Bad last week, but bright week ahead

Oct 23rd-25th MI

That was rough Friday night light rain and windy. I would say it was 20mph gust not to bad but I had that hope or really just pumped to be off work and back at it for the weekend. Ended up not seeing a dang thing.

Sat weather forecast looked even worse when we go back to the cabin that night. Rain all day and 25-30mph winds. For the first time the weather channel did not lie, boy let me tell you it was rain and 30mph winds all day. In fact I hunted 11 out of 12hrs of daylight that day and we did not see anything. Windy weather and a huge mass corp fall has really changed this season. Being I can't hunt during the week to do work you got to put you time in stand when you have it!

This Friday Oct 30th will be at Metro Airport 4:30am and ready to fly to Neb (Lincoln) and then a short 1hr drive south. Will be in of my Fav places to hunt I can't wait!

Oct Lull in MI

Well it hit, just like pretty much every year the Oct Lull is here! The 3rd wk in MI like clock work is slow VERY slow. Being only able to hunt the weekends as my farm is 2hr drive I miss some of the up's and down. But Last week must have been peak of the lull, almost everyone I know hardly seen deer in the morning or evenings.

Corn is hurting some of the movement as it is going to be late and still up but I usually still see deer even in the lull. Everyone is predicting the rut is going to kick in early this year and I agree look toward this Friday the 25th and Halloween should be pop pop pop ing!! So this weekend means extra hours in stand!

Good Luck & Hunt Well

2 wk's in MI re-cap

The first two weeks in MI have flown bye! Maybe because only getting to hunt 4.5 days out of 14 when you only get the weekends to hunt makes it fly bye!

First weekend in S.MI was nothing but rain, deer movement was really slow. I think we seen 25 deer over the Sat and Sun but nothing to shoot at.

2ND weekend, crazy how fast the fall colors here in MI change so fast. Striking!!

It was cold and the deer-movement was out of this world. Seen close two 40 deer most of which does. But seen the best 1.5yr old buck at 5 yards that will be a future MEGA-STAR!!! Can't wait till we hit the road on Friday make the 2hr drive and do it all over!

Well the count down to MI opening day OCT 1st is here 35 more days!! Does not sound so bad. I am starting to get in the panic mode! More stands to get up, replace stands that were stolen...losers! Trail cams now it's even time to start moving them around to fall travel patterns. So much to do so little time!

WK-end fo Aug 1st & 2nd

Well I finally got back to the farm this weekend to run scouting Cams. Picked up some Mineral to refresh sites and off to the farm to pull the SD cars.

I could have not been more happy 3 Camera's 249 pics. I have about 80 pics yet to still look at. But all in all had some good bucks. Could not even dream that I would have so many 1.5yr old and 2.5yr old deer around awesome is what the future will be!!

Are you set for the Fall yet?

Well I am still working out details but looks like things are shaping up! Neb is almost a done deal can't wait to get back, the first week in Nov should be hot! Tex Panhandle is one of the most underrated big deer area's around and if you bowhunt they look at you funny there! Which means low pressure and I want to be hunting those type's of places!!

It' getting that time plan it now and be done, so you can enjoy the thoughts!!

MODs in the mail

Last week got the right MODs for my new PSE X-force GX. 2 Allen screws and one adjustment on the draw stop. Really easy as pie to change. No bow press needed. Got that done and starting shooting, at 50 yards tubed my first arrow ever! That was the first day. So can't wait to really get going with that bow it is super fast super quite and shock free. With that being said it's everything you want in a hunting bow!

Wow where is has the time gone, July 4th come and gone. I had a ton of plans to do at the farm that week because I was off. But the bugs and the bites from the bugs were out of control. I did not nearly get done what I wanted. So I will have to wait a bit to get back out there but 3 scouting cameras are up and we will have to stuff to look at soon!
